Team's of the Season 2023/24

 Team's of the Season 2023/24

Its been a long old wet season for our non league sides. As we cover steps 2-7 we have looked at our clubs in every step and league and decided on our teams of the season. This blog post will put all of our teams of the season together in one place and a bit of reasoning as to why we have chose each side with some honourable mentions along the way too.

step 2 TEAM OF THE SEASON is Alfreton Town for the second season Billy Heath's 'Often have made it into the playoff's with an outstanding home record to look back on too. Losing to eventually promoted Boston United in a shootout while also having a memorable FA Cup run going out in a replay to League 2 Walsall.
Honourable mention to Buxton FC who secured back to back Derbyshire Senior Cup trophies.

Step 3 TEAM OF THE SEASON is Worksop Town promoted as champions from step 4 last season and the good times carried on at Sandy Lane as The Tigers secured a playoff berth but they would fall short to the hands of Macclesfield.

Step 4 TEAM OF THE SEASON Carlton Town. From a sensational last day survival last season to playoff's this season. A decent squad turnaround and fresh faces for The Millers secured them that final playoff spot. They would lose out to eventually promoted Stockton Town but they will be looking to kick back on next season.

Step 5 TEAM OF THE SEASON Sherwood Colliery. Champions and promoted to step 4 for the first time in the clubs history. Sav's men only lost 2 games all season while going unbeaten at home for the full season. The steady progression at Debdale Park doesn't look like it will be stopping anytime soon.

Step 6 United Counties League Division 1 TEAM OF THE SEASON Dunkirk FC. No many if anybody had Dunkirk as playoff contenders this season. but a very impressive 4th place in what was a very open UCL Division 1 this season. This was helped by Jack Thatcher bagging 39 goals for the season.
Honourable mentions go to Clipstone FC who pushed champions Bourne Town all the way. Newark Town for back to back playoff seasons. At the bottom of the table both Selston FC & Rainworth Miners Welfare saw form pick up late in the season both producing good runs to secure safety.

Step 6 Northern Counties East League  TEAM OF THE SEASON Shirebrook Town. Playoff final penalty heartbreak may take time to heal but an 18th place finish last season compared to a 3rd place finish with over 100 points should always been seen as a successful season.

Step 7 Central Midlands TEAM OF THE SEASON Pinxton FC. Its been a long time coming at the welfare for Pinxton to get that league title and secure promotion into the pyramid. Overall the best side in the league. Pinxton will be looking forward to pyramid football next season.
Honourable mention to South Normanton Athletic who pushed local rivals Pinxton all the way making sure it went down to Pinxton's last game of the season.

Step 7 Notts Senior League TEAM OF THE SEASON Collingham FC. Arguably the biggest turnaround. Strugglers in Central Midlands last season finished 18th. A switch to Notts Senior League has brought a change of fortunes with a second placed finish.
Honourbale mention to Stapleford Town who secured back to back league titles and can now be promoted to step 6.

From me and on behalf of all local football fans across Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire. Its been a pleasure watching this sport we love this season. Even if your club hasn't been mentioned, by all means your season hasn't been a success. It was hard to pick just 1 side for each league/step.
